Ultrasonic transducer is a device that converts electromagnetic energy into mechanical energy (sound energy), usually made of piezoelectric ceramics or other magnetostrictive materials. It is an application example of an ultrasonic transducer.

The medical ultrasonic transducer (ultrasonic probe) is an important part of the medical ultrasonic instrument system. It occupies a very important position in the development of new medical instruments and medical research. In ultrasonic diagnosis, ultrasonic waves must be transmitted to the human body first, and then the reflected echoes of human tissue structure information must be received. The role of information conversion is the medical ultrasonic transducer, which completes an electro-acoustic and acoustic-electric conversion. The performance of the transducer is directly related to the performance of the medical ultrasonic equipment.

The types of medical ultrasonic transducers can be divided into single-beam and multi-beam according to the number of beams generated by the transducer. As few as a single beam, as many as 256 beams. According to the dimension of the spatial arrangement of the transducer array elements, it can be divided into one-dimensional array (one-dimensional linear array, one-dimensional convex linear array, one-dimensional phased array), 1.5-dimensional, 1.75-dimensional, or two-dimensional acoustic basis array. According to the range of the working frequency of the transducer, it can be divided into low frequency and high frequency transducer. In medical ultrasound equipment, low-frequency transducers can reach 500KHz, or even lower to 20KHz, and high-frequency transducers can currently reach 50MHz. According to the materials made of the transducers, it can be divided into piezoelectric ceramic transducers, piezoelectric thin film transducers, piezoelectric thick film transducers, piezoelectric single crystal transducers, and composite material transducers. Micromachined capacitive transducers, Micromachined piezoelectric transducers, etc.

Precautions when using

1. Before connecting the probe, it is done under the condition of power off and shut down. Before plugging and unplugging the probe from the host, the power of the host must be cut off to avoid the generation of strong current due to multiple instant conduction of current, which will burn the wires inside the probe. or chip.

2. The probe is strictly prohibited to be knocked, dropped and bumped during use.

3. To keep it dry and clean, put the probe in a protective case when not in use.

4. The probe must be cleaned after use. The surface of the probe can be cleaned with a soft cloth soaked in water, and cannot be scrubbed with hard paper, which may damage the acoustic lens of the probe.

5. Avoid use in places with strong electromagnetic fields to prevent image display from being disturbed.
