Principle of ultrasonic emulsification

Under the action of ultrasonic energy, two or more than two kinds of insoluble liquids are mixed together, one of which is dispersed evenly in another liquid to form emulsion liquid. This process is called ultrasonic emulsification.

All kinds of intermediates and consumer goods, such as cosmetics and skincare products, pharmaceutical paste, paint, lubricants and fuel, are all or part of the emulsion. Ultrasonic emulsification equipment in the laboratory ultrasonic emulsification capacity has been well known and used for a long time, in industry for the production of high-efficiency emulsification factory mass production.

Industrial ultrasonic emulsifier can be composed of one or more kilowatts of ultrasonic processors. It effectively provides the ability to transform laboratory applications into industrial production, and the result is comparable to that of high pressure homogenizer in order to obtain fine dispersed emulsion in continuous flow or batch. The cost of maintenance is very low, and it is very easy to operate and clean. The power of ultrasonic emulsification equipment is adjustable, which can adapt to specific products and emulsification requirements.

Emulsion is the dispersion of two or two insoluble liquids. High intensity ultrasound provides the energy needed to disperse small droplets into the liquid phase in the second stage. In the dispersed region, the implosion cavity will cause a strong shock wave in the surrounding liquid and form a high-speed liquid jet. In order to stabilize the anti coalescence of the newly formed dispersed droplets, emulsifiers and stabilizers were added to the emulsion.

The final droplet size distribution is affected by the coalescence of the broken droplets. Therefore, an effective and stable emulsifier should be added to maintain the final droplet size distribution. Its distribution level and the effect of droplet breaking in the ultrasonic dispersion area *.

Advantages of ultrasonic emulsification system

The type of emulsion can be controlled.

The power needed to produce emulsion is small.

The emulsion formed is more stable, some stable for several months to more than half a year.

High concentration, pure emulsion concentration can exceed 30%, and emulsifier can reach 70%.

Low cost, an important characteristic of ultrasonic emulsification is that it can produce very stable emulsion without or without emulsifier.

Compared with general emulsification technology and equipment, such as propeller, colloid mill and homogenizer, ultrasonic emulsification has many advantages.

The average droplet size of the emulsion formed is small (0.2~2 micron), and the droplet size distribution range is narrow (0.1~10 micron) or narrower.
